Masa Depan Bank Syariah di Indonesia: Kontroversi Kewajiban Spin-off UUS Menjadi BUS
Abstract
Makalah ini mengkaji apakah Unit Usaha Syariah (UUS) harus dikoversi atau spin-off menjadi Bank Umum Syariah (BUS) untuk meningkatkan kinerja bank. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah studi literatur, maqaṣid syari’ah, studi komparatif, analisis ekonometrik kuantitatif terhadap stabilitas keuangan bank dan survei konsumen. Analisis di banyak negara dan Indonesia menunjukkan bahwa kinerja keuangan UUS secara umum lebih baik dibandingkan BUS. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kinerja bank syariah bergantung pada kebutuhan kebutuhan permodalan, efisiensi, dan profitabilitas. Mendorong spin-off UUS menjadi BUS di Indonesia hanya akan menjadi kontraproduktif bagi kinerja bank syariah secara keseluruhan. Berdasarkan hasil survei, keputusan konsumen dalam memilih produk perbankan syariah didasarkan pada pertimbangan rasional, yaitu masalah manfaat finansial dan keandalan layanan. OJK perlu mengkaji ulang mengenai disain pengembangan bank syariah ke depan.
